In Isaiah, chapter 12, we find a short expression of the coming joy of Israel. This passage is especially remarkable when you consider the serious problems discussed in Isaiah chapters 1-11. But there in the darkness of sinful problems, we find the Light of Messianic joy:
Isaiah 2 reminds us that the Lord will bring the wars of this world to an end; He will cause men to beat their swords into plowshares.
Isaiah 7:14 prophesied the coming of the virgin-born Messiah.
Isaiah 9 reminds us that this Son who would be born will be called, “Wonderful, Counselor, the Mighty God, the Everlasting Father, and the Prince of Peace.
This “Root of Jesse” (Isaiah 11) will deliver His people into the joy of salvation.
In Matthew 7:22, Jesus issued a warning about the dangers of the Great White Throne Judgment Seat. He recounted what “Many will say to me in that day. . .” But Isaiah 12 also reminds us what many will say — joyously!
